Why Nepali months change length
Each BS month starts on a sankranti, the day the sun enters a new zodiac sign. The sun moves faster at some points in Earth’s orbit than others, so the summer months (Jestha to Bhadra) run longer, up to 32 days, while winter months (Mangsir to Magh) can be as short as 29. The exact lengths are fixed each year by Nepal’s calendar committee, the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti.
Weekly holiday
Saturday (शनिबार) is the weekly public holiday in Nepal, so Saturdays appear in red. Government offices also close on public holidays announced each year.

Questions
Which years does the calendar cover?
BS 1975 to 2090, which is April 13, 1918 to April 13, 2034 AD. Years after the latest officially published patro are projections and may change by a day once the official calendar is out.
Why don’t I see Dashain or Tihar for some years?
Those festivals follow the lunar calendar (tithi), so their dates move every year. They are added from the official holiday list for each year; until then only fixed-date days are shown.
Which time zone does “today” use?
Nepal Standard Time (UTC+5:45). If you are abroad, “today” changes at midnight in Nepal, not at midnight where you are.
How do I convert a date from this calendar?
Select the day, then choose “Open this date in the converter”. The converter opens with that date filled in.
