How the test works

Pick how you type: Preeti keys (the traditional layout used in Lok Sewa and most offices), English letters (romanized, like mero naam), or a Nepali keyboard already set up on your computer or phone. The timer starts with your first key. Each finished word turns green if it’s right and red if it’s not.

Speed is the number of correct words per minute. Accuracy is the share of finished words typed correctly. Lok Sewa computer operator exams test Nepali typing for speed and accuracy, so practise both.

Not sure where the keys are? See the Nepali keyboard layout, or learn the romanized keys in the typing guide.

Questions

What is a good Nepali typing speed?

Around 20 to 25 correct words per minute is a solid start; many office jobs expect 25 or more. Accuracy matters as much as speed.

Is Preeti the same as the Traditional Unicode layout?

Almost. The Nepali Traditional Unicode layout puts the letters on the same keys as Preeti, so practice with one helps with the other.

Is my typing sent anywhere?

No. The test runs in your browser.
