How to type in Nepali
- Make sure English letters is selected.
- Type Nepali words the way they sound, for example
mero naam samir ho. - The Nepali appears right away: मेरो नाम समिर हो. Tap Copy Nepali text and paste it anywhere.
- Need it for an old Word template? Tap Copy Preeti text instead (
d]/f] gfd ;ld/ xf]).
Tips for perfect spelling
- Long vowels:
kigives कि andkiigives की.kugives कु andkuugives कू. - Joined letters: two consonants in a row join by themselves.
sakchhagives सक्छ. - Halant at the end of a word: add a backslash.
garchhan\gives गर्छन्. - English words: put them in curly braces.
{Facebook}stays as Facebook. - Full stop:
.gives the Nepali full stop (।). Type..for a normal dot.

What is Nepali Unicode?
Unicode is the worldwide standard that lets computers and phones show Nepali without any special font. Text typed here works in browsers, social media, email, Google Docs and Microsoft Word, and Google can search it. Older fonts such as Preeti don’t work this way. If you have Preeti text, use the Preeti to Unicode converter.

Do I need to install anything?
No. The tool works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers.
Why does “nepal” become नेपल instead of नेपाल?
A single “a” is the short vowel अ. Type “aa” for the long आ sound: nepaal gives नेपाल.
Can I type with the Preeti keyboard I learned at work?
Yes. Choose Preeti in step 1 and type the same keys you use in Preeti. You get Unicode Nepali.
How do I make an image of my text?
Use step 3. Pick a font, choose the size and colour, then Download PNG or SVG, or Copy image to paste it straight into a chat or design app.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion happens in your browser. Your draft is saved only in this browser so it’s still there after a reload.
