Why festival dates change every year
Most Nepali festivals follow the lunar calendar (tithi), so they fall on a different Bikram Sambat date each year. Dashain usually falls in Asoj or Kartik, Tihar in Kartik, and Holi in Falgun or Chaitra. Fixed days such as Nepali New Year (Baisakh 1) and Constitution Day (Asoj 3) stay on the same date.
Questions
Where do these dates come from?
They follow the official calendar and the yearly public-holiday list. Public holidays can be added or changed by the government at short notice, so check official notices for anything important.
Can I add a festival to my phone calendar?
Yes. Open the festival and choose “Add to calendar”. It downloads a calendar file that works with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook.
