How this rashifal is worked out
Each day’s reading follows the Moon’s journey through the zodiac (चन्द्र गोचर). The Moon moves into a new rashi about every two and a half days. For your rashi, the house the Moon is passing through, counted from your sign, sets the tone of the day: the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th and 11th houses are favourable, the 4th, 8th and 12th call for care, and the others are mixed. The Moon’s position is calculated for Nepal time, and the stars show how favourable the day looks.
The 12 rashis and their letters
Each rashi has a set of name syllables (akshar). A child’s name is often chosen to start with one of the syllables of their birth rashi, so the first sound of a name usually points to the rashi. For example, names starting with चु, चे, चो, ला or अ belong to Mesh (मेष).
